Temple Police Department and Temple Fire and Rescue participate in ´Hot Dogs with Heroes'

(April 8, 2022) City of Temple heroes were out in full force Wednesday morning to meet with our future heroes. Members of Temple Fire and Rescue and the Temple Police Department visited Miller Park to take part in Hot Dogs with Heroes.

Hot Dogs with Heroes is an event put together by Temple Parks and Recreation where the City celebrates the kids in our community. It’s part of a week-long event to bring public awareness to the importance of early childhood development and education.

“It’s a good time for kids and parents to see all of the different stuff we actually do on the truck, all the medical, all of the tools we use for wrecks and just a good time to visit and play with the kids,” said Captain Michael Whitlock with Temple Fire and Rescue.

During the event, local firefighters and police officers interacted with children. Many hopped in the back of a patrol car and experienced the inside of a fire truck.

“We enjoy doing these events especially with the younger crowd, the kiddos,” said Officer Cody Close with the Temple Police Department.
