This Privacy Notice describes the type of information we may collect from you and/or that you may provide us when you interact with our sites, email and online services, participate in a City program, or register for one of our events.
INFORMATION COLLECTED & STORED AUTOMATICALLY
If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:

WHAT WE COLLECT IF YOU VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

In all cases, the City strives to collect the minimum information necessary to comply with applicable law or provide the service requested. The City does not sell, rent or otherwise distribute visitors’ information, including electronic mail addresses, to any outside company or organization, unless legally required to do so. This applies to information that may be collected on the City's site and on that of any third party with whom the City contracts to provide Internet related services.
PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CHOICE
You may choose whether to provide personal information on-line. "Personal information" is information about a natural person that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. Personal information includes such things as an individual's name, address, and phone number. A domain name or Internet Protocol address is not considered personal information. We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us by sending us email, participating in a survey, completing an on-line form, or engaging in an online transaction. You may choose not to contact us by email, participate in a survey, provide personal information using an on-line form, or engage in an electronic transaction. Your choice to not participate in these activities will not impair your ability to browse, read, or download general information provided on the site. Users are cautioned that the collection of personal information requested from or volunteered by children on-line or by email will be treated the same as information given by an adult and may be subject to public access.
The City has taken several steps to safeguard the integrity of its data and prevent unauthorized access to information it maintains, including but not limited to authentication, monitoring, auditing, and encryption. Security measures have been integrated into the design, implementation and day-to-day practices of the entire operating environment as part of its continuing commitment to risk management. These measures are designed and intended to prevent corruption of data, block unknown or unauthorized access to our systems and information, and to provide reasonable protection of private information in our possession. This information should not be construed in any way as giving business, legal, or other advice, or warranting as fail proof, the security of information provided via the City's web site.
Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM YOU
We collect Personal Information that you provide directly to us. You may provide different types of personal information to us when you engage in certain activities through the Services. The Personal Information we request includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, age, and demographic information. It is optional for you to engage in such activity; however, if you choose to do so, we may not be able to permit you to participate in the activity unless certain pieces of information are provided.
EMAILS, COMMUNICATIONS AND ACCOUNTS
When you send an email or other communication to the City of Temple, or when you register for an account on one of our services, we may ask for your name, phone number, email address, or other information about you and/or your company. We also collect the content of your message or submission to us, which contains any additional information, including Personal Information, you choose to share with us. When you use the Services, you may be given the option to subscribe to or to be added to our email list. We collect this information when you initiate contact with us for the purpose of responding to your email or other communications. Subscriptions to email lists can be cancelled at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email and follow the unsubscribe instructions.
COMPLETING A SURVEY
If you choose to participate in a survey, you may be asked to provide basic demographic information. You also will be asked to provide additional information related to the survey topic, which may include Personal Information. We use this information to conduct statistical analyses on topics of interest to our users, and your data will only be reported in aggregate form, unless we obtain your consent for further use. SWEEPSTAKES AND GIVEAWAYS
When you enter a contest, you may be asked to provide your name, address, e-mail address, company name, and phone number. This information is used to verify your identity, notify you that your entry has been received, and contact you if you are a winner and/or prize recipient.
As part of your entry in our contests, we may choose to provide you with the option of receiving information about our services and publications or other advertisements or information. If you consent to receive this information, we will collect the Personal Information you provided as part of your contest entry for this purpose. You can change, withdraw, or withhold your consent at any time.
USER GENERATED CONTENT
City outlets may allow users to post comments and other content. Any information about yourself that you post will become public information and will be accessible by other users. In addition, your username will be viewable by other users, along with a profile picture if you have chosen to upload one. We have no responsibility to maintain the privacy or security of any such information that you may choose to post to the Services.
APPLYING FOR A JOB
When you submit a job application via our website, we collect your first and last name, phone number, and e-mail address. We also ask you to provide a cover letter and permit you to upload any documents to support your job application. When you submit your cover letter and supporting documentation, we will collect any additional information, including Personal Information, you include in those documents.
REGISTER FOR AN EVENT
When you register for one of our events, we may ask you to provide your name, address, e-mail address, and phone number. We also may ask you for additional information, such as age, to facilitate registration.
When you purchase something from any of our sites as part of the buying process, we collect the Personal Information you give us such as your name, address and email address. We use this information to process and provide you with the items you purchased.
