Environmental Programs

OverviewThe City of Temple's Environmental Programs team supports the Utility Services division of Public Works to provide quality water and wastewater services.  Our group of dedicated employees administers and enforces the City's Cross-Connection Control Program in accordance with the state's governing agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and works to reduce the Fats, Oils & Grease (FOG) that are in our wastewater system.

Protecting our water distribution system from potential contamination hazards is a priority.  The City's Cross-Connection Control Program ensures the integrity of Temple's drinking water in the case of a backflow event. Residential, commercial and industrial customers all play an important role in the success of this program.
F.O.G. - Fats, Oils & Grease come from food preparation in homes, restaurants and food manufacturing sites.  F.O.G. is also generated at car wash facilities and auto repair shops. Improper disposal of fats, oils and/or grease can cause blockages in private service lines as well as the City's wastewater collection system, resulting in sanitary sewer overflows (SSO's).  Join us in the effort to Fight F.O.G.!
