Temple Police Department partners with Neighbors app by Ring to exchange safety information

(March 28, 2022) The Temple Police Department is joining forces with Ring to continue making neighborhoods safe.

Ring’s Neighbors app is a free application created for residents to connect and share hyper-local updates and information. The Temple Police Department is joining the conversation by using its Neighbors Public Safety Service to help keep residents safe and informed.

The Department has the ability to view posts created by residents asking for assistance or reporting suspicious activity. TPD can then contact the creator of the post to get more information or share the video on other social media outlets.

Sharing information on the Neighbors app works both ways. The Department can also post when they are actively seeking information on a case, actively looking for a specific individual, or alerting the public of a street closure or traffic accident.

The best part of all is that the service is free to use for both residents and the Temple Police.

Temple residents do not need to have a Ring doorbell camera to use the Neighbors app, and they can upload pictures and videos taken on other devices.

The Temple Police Department is excited for this partnership and is looking forward to using the new tool to help prevent, reduce and solve crime in our community.
