TEMPLE, TX (November 16, 2023) - The City of Temple will be collecting used cooking oil from Thursday, November 23 through Sunday, November 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following Temple fire stations:
- Central Fire Station, 210 N. Third St.
- Fire Station #3, 3606 Midway Dr.
- Fire Station #4, 411 Waters Dairy Road
- Fire Station #7, 8420 W. Adams Ave.
Oil must be in a closed container to be eligible for drop-off. Improperly disposing of cooking oils down sink drains and straight into the wastewater system can cause blockages in a home's plumbing as well as City infrastructure, resulting in sanitary sewer overflows. Dropping off used oil for disposal helps limit the amount of buildup and keep pipes and wastewater lines functioning properly.
In addition to Thanksgiving, individuals can also visit the Temple Solid Waste Complex, located at 2611 E Ave H, during their operating business hours (M - F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to drop off used cooking oil all year round.
