F.O.G. consists of meat fats, lard, cooking oils, shortening, butter/margarine, food scraps, baking goods, sauces/salad dressings, and dairy products. Automotive service facilities, including car washes, generate F.O.G. as a byproduct of repairs and services.
Improperly disposing of F.O.G. down sink drains and straight into the wastewater system can cause blockages in your private plumbing as well as City infrastructure, resulting in sanitary sewer overflows (SSO's). Please review the FAQs for more information.
Recycle your Oils/GreaseThe City of Temple offers recycling opportunities for many different oils. Visit the Recycling page or contact our Solid Waste office for more information.
