FOG

Fats, Oils & Grease (F.O.G.) comes from preparing food in residential homes as well as food manufacturing sites as well as food service facilities, aka restaurants.  F.O.G. is also generated at car wash facilities and auto repair shops.

F.O.G. consists of meat fats, lard, cooking oils, shortening, butter/margarine, food scraps, baking goods, sauces/salad dressings, and dairy products.  Automotive service facilities, including car washes, generate F.O.G. as a byproduct of repairs and services.

Improperly disposing of F.O.G. down sink drains and straight into the wastewater system can cause blockages in your private plumbing as well as City infrastructure, resulting in sanitary sewer overflows (SSO's). To learn more, click here.
