Temple Fire & Rescue assists with Hurricane Laura recovery
Temple Fire & Rescue recently joined forces with the Texas Forestry Service through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) This program calls upon local resources, such as Temple, and deploys them to areas of the state that are experiencing major emergencies.
Temple Fire & Rescue has been preparing and training for their first deployment which occurred in late August when three members were sent to Beaumont to assist with recovery efforts of Hurricane Laura.
Temple Firefighters Beau Alford, Jonathan Buckley, and Dillon Ischy, along with 14 firefighters from other departments were initially staged in the Houston area then relocated to Beaumont after landfall to "backfill" local fire stations.
