City of Temple to host three eclipse town halls

TEMPLE, TX ( February 21 , 2024) - The City of Temple will host three town halls for residents to attend to learn and ask questions about the total solar eclipse.

The town halls will be held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, February 28 at 10 a.m. at Sammons Community Center Lakeview Room
  • Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at Grace Temple Ministries
  • Tuesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center
Residents can attend one of these public meetings to hear from Temple's Emergency Management Coordinator about what the eclipse is, how to view it, and how to prepare. Residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions as well.

Due to this spectacular event, Temple could see an increase in population for several days before and after the event. Factors of a potential influx could include things like traffic congestion and heavy cell usage. The City's Emergency Management Coordinator and representatives from both Temple Fire and Rescue and the Temple Police Department will be present and available to answer questions regarding this aspect of the eclipse as well.
