City of Temple Hosts Second Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

TEMPLE, TX (October 13, 2023) The City of Temple hosted its second annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on Thursday, October 12, at the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum to acknowledge and explore how Hispanic culture has impacted the community and honor local Hispanic leaders and residents.

The invaluable contributions of Hispanic community members were honored with a Keynote Speech from Lawrence Guzman Romo, former United States Air Force officer and Director of the Selective Service System, the recognition of eight Hispanic Legacy Trailblazer Heroes, and a proclamation made by Mayor Davis.

“By honoring Hispanic Heritage, we recognize that our diversity is the cornerstone of our strength,” said Judy Morales, LULAC Council 4971 President. “Through the richness of our traditions, the warmth of our culture, and the resilience of our people, we find inspiration to build a brighter future for our community.”

The event also featured a Mariachi performance and live dancing to showcase the rich colors, flavors, history, traditions, and music that are woven into the fabric of Temple’s culture.
