Temple Police Department Hosts Donation Drive-Thru for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

TEMPLE, TX (October 12, 2023) The Temple Police Department’s Victim Services Unit will be hosting a donation drive-thru on Thursday, October 19, to acknowledge Domestic Violence Awareness Month and collect donations for local family violence shelters, programs, and organizations.

From 4 to 6:30 p.m., people can stop by City Parking Lot #10, located next to the Temple Police Department, and drop off their much-needed items. The donations will be distributed to TPD’s community partners including Families in Crisis, Aware Central Texas, Jax’s Fund, Priceless Beginnings, Hilltop Recovery Ministries, and the Salvation Army.

“In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we hope to be a voice for victims and to move beyond awareness and into action,” said Lisa Hatfield, Temple Police Department’s Crime Victim Liaison. “By hosting this donation drive-thru, we hope to spark community engagement, resulting in donations of basic essentials on behalf of those who have been affected, offering hope and a path towards healing for victims of family violence.”

Needed items include:

  • Personal hygiene products (women’s deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc.)
  • Women’s socks, underwear, and sports bras
  • Ethnic hair care products
  • Children’s underwear and socks
  • Diapers and wipes
  • Blankets, towels, and washcloths
  • Small backpacks
  • Central Texas HOP bus tokens and bus passes
  • Loop 363 Animal Hospital vouchers and gift cards
  • HEB and Walmart Gift Cards ($5 - $10 amounts only)
