Temple Fire and Rescue Hosts Annual Fire Safety Day during National Fire Prevention Month

TEMPLE, TX (October 5, 2023) In observance of National Fire Prevention Month, Temple Fire and Rescue held their annual Fire Safety Day on Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Fire Station. This year’s event featured rides on the station’s antique fire truck, tours of Central Station, pedal kart and impairment goggle demonstrations, and simulations in the fire safety house and rollover convincer.

“Fire Safety Day is all about keeping people safe,” said Mitch Randles, Temple Fire Chief. “We always love interacting with the community, and it’s a day where we can come together and learn how to prevent fires and stay protected in emergency situations.”

Various informative stations were set up at the event, where attendees could receive safety information on car seats, poison control, fire extinguishers, and more. Residents also made appointments for home smoke alarm assessments and installations.

TFR staff also hosted a bake sale at the event to fundraise for their upcoming holiday initiative, Rescue Elves, which works to provide local families in need of assistance with Christmas gifts for their children.
