Temple First Responders Ease School Year Strain

As the academic year begins, a concerning trend persists: millions of students nationwide are entering classrooms without the essential supplies they need, leaving them at a disadvantage. The City of Temple is committed to reducing these numbers each school year.

Temple first responders continued their tradition of the "Backpack Buddies" and “Back to School Blue Santa” programs, providing backpacks and school supplies for children in need before returning to school.

The Temple Police Department and Temple Fire & Rescue successfully collected and distributed a total of 520 backpacks to children within the Temple community.

“It is important to recognize the significance of education and the pivotal role it plays in shaping the future of individuals.” Temple Police Chief Shawn Reynolds said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference within the community and support students in returning to school with all essential supplies!”

The backpack giveaway programs continue to serve as a beacon of hope for a brighter educational future for all.
