Summer Fun: Registration open for summer camps

Temple Parks and Recreation is gearing up for an exciting summer with nearly two dozen Summer Camps to choose from.

“Whether it’s cooking, cowboys or cheer, we have opportunities for students of all ages and interests to learn and have fun this summer,” Program Coordinator Belinda Garcia said.

The department is offering nearly two dozen camps, covering a wide range of topics. There is currently a waiting list for full-day camps, but mini camps are still available for preschoolers through age 17.

Here’s a few highlights of available camps:

  • Kids & K-9s: Bring your dog to camp and learn fun agility skills and tricks. Participants will learn about being responsible pet owners. Ages 7-12.
  • Cooking Camps: Campers will create an assortment of dishes and desserts while learning about cooking safety. Weekly themes include casseroles, breakfast and brunch, desserts, world cuisine and healthy eating. Ages 8-13.
  • Flippin’ Fun Gymnastics Camp: Learn the basic movements of gymnastics while jumping, flipping and having fun. This camp is designed for beginner students. Ages 5-10.
  • Ninja Warrior Camp: Participants will challenge themselves on obstacles while learning techniques to compete, stay active and gain confidence. Ages 8-12.
  • STEAM Camp: This camp offers a week of technology-based activities, including e-sports, coding and video game creation. Ages 10-17.
