Protecting, Serving, and Working, in Partnership with Our Community, to Prevent, Reduce, and Solve Crime with Integrity, Honor, and Dedication.
Motto
The department has adopted the motto of "Integrity, Honor, and Dedication", as these terms best describe the character of the men and women who are the Temple Police Department.
Strategic Focus
Public Safety is one of the City of Temple's four areas or strategic focus. We believe our residents have a right to live in a safe and healthy community, and we are dedicated to making Temple a place you love to call home. The Temple City Council is committed to providing the Temple Police Department with the resources and support they need to serve our City effectively and foster public trust. The men and women of this fine organization tirelessly serve with integrity, honor and dedication. We are grateful for the commitment and sacrifices that they and their families make every day.
Chief's Message
On behalf of the men and women of the Temple Police Department, I would like to personally welcome you to our webpage. It is the vision of our City to make Temple a place you love to call home. As part of that vision, the police department plays a unique and critical role.
Historically, the role of law enforcement has been defined by the statement “to serve and protect.” I believe that statement still holds true today. By combining our current vision and the developing mission, we have begun forging a strategy with an emphasis on key law enforcement objectives for the future. These include a focus on community and neighborhood policing while we work to prevent, reduce and solve crimes.
These objectives apply to every member of our agency. It is my fundamental belief that the police cannot be successful without community support, and that begins by having an ongoing, authentic relationship between the community and the police. We are committed to adding additional personnel to enhance our community and neighborhood policing efforts. I believe preventing and reducing crime is an effective way to improve our overall quality of life as a community. Successfully clearing or solving more of the crimes that do occur is a department-wide goal and every member of our agency plays a role in making this happen.
I believe that the police department cannot tackle all the law enforcement issues in our society on our own. To truly be successful, police and citizens must commit to working together to address issues and concerns. Community involvement, support and partnerships are essential to our success in achieving our collective goals.
I would like to thank you in advance for your support and encourage you to partner with us in our efforts. As a department we are committed to seeking out partnerships and collaborative solutions to issues impacting Temple.
It is my privilege to be serving the citizens and visitors of Temple as your Chief of Police.
Sincerely,
Shawn M. Reynolds Chief of Police
