Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 24

Temple, TX (Oct. 19, 2020) — The City of Temple will hold its annual Household Hazardous Waste collection from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Temple Service Center, 3210 E. Avenue H.

Accepted items include household cleaning chemicals, automotive fluids, paint products and gardening chemicals. Some electronics will be accepted, including computers, cell phones, batteries and ink cartridges. No televisions or CRT monitors will be accepted.

The event will be contactless to maintain health and safety regulations. Residents are required to wear masks and remain in their vehicles. Event staff must be able to access items without anyone exiting the vehicle. Any containers brought to the facility will not be returned.

Residents can bring up to four tires for free. Additional tires will have a disposal fee of $3 per tire. A maximum of 12 tires will be accepted per carload. Any tires over 22 inches will cost $5 per tire.

Last year’s event brought out 560 people who turned in 58,000 pounds of hazardous waste and 1,600 tires, ensuring these items don’t end up in landfills or water sources.
