Emma's Christmas Party Collects Donations for Animal Shelter

Animal lovers celebrated the holiday season with a one-of-a-kind Christmas party at Woods Flowers in Temple. Frank and Carol Hajda, the owners of Woods Flowers, threw 5-year-old Emma her Inaugural Pet Christmas Party.

“We figured it was a great idea to celebrate Emma, collect donations for the Temple Animal Shelter and assist students from Travis Science Academy with their community service school project," Carol said.

Frank and Carol adopted Emma from the Waco Animal Shelter.

“She was really aggressive at first,” said Carol. “It took her about two years to warm up to us and others, but now she walks around like she owns the place.”

“Customers frequently visit Woods Flowers to see her,” said Frank.

Frank and Carol came up with the idea of throwing Emma a Christmas Party after watching the Hallmark movie, Road to Christmas.

The event raised about $250 and collected pet food, blankets and other pet products.

Frank and Carol are considering making the Christmas Party an annual celebration.

“We are considering making this an annual celebration to help it grow,” Carol said. “This year, we received a lot of donations and are continuing to get lots of stuff.”
