TPD recognizes Civilian Employee of the Month

Day or night, any day of the week Melissa Cowan with the Criminal Investigation Unit is ready to take a call.

Cowan was nominated by her entire division and selected as the Temple Police Department’s June Employee of the Month.

“She is phenomenal with crime scene processing,” Chief of Police Shawn Reynolds said.

Earlier this year Cowan became certified in the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network. This will allow her to have access to a national database filled with evidence that was found at crime scenes.

Cowan is known for tackling her responsibilities with a calm demeanor, making her job look easy and she routinely assists other departments with large scenes the Criminal Investigation Unit is not involved with.

“We are proud of Melissa and we appreciate her assistance throughout the Temple Police Department,” said Reynolds.
