Good-Housekeeping

Good Housekeeping practices have been established within the City of Temple to maintain compliance with our MS4 Stormwater Permit.  These practices include:

  • Annual training for City employees
  • Education and certification of municipal employees to reduce water quality impacts from fertilizers and pesticides
  • Collecting and recycling used motor oil from the fleet maintenance activities
  • Street sweeping and street cleaning
  • Regular maintenance and cleaning of the stormwater inlets and drainage system helps to reduce the amount of debris, trash and other pollutants in the storm drain system
  • Dechlorination equipment is required to remove excess chlorine from wash water that is used to treat new water lines
  • Maps and inventory of all of all City-owned facilities and their storm water controls.
