Main Street Program
The overarching goal of the Main Street Program is to establish and maintain a downtown community partnership through which all downtown stake holders will collaborate together.
Working alongside residents in each neighborhood, Neighborhood Planning's mission is to identify neighborhood concerns, values, vision and goals.
Local Historic District
Temple currently has two locally designated residential historic districts, known officially as the North Central Temple Historic District and the African American Churches Historic District. Modifications to buildings within these Districts are subject to Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances to ensure the historic appropriateness of the changes through a certificate of appropriateness (COA) application. These applications are reviewed and approved by either the Historic Preservation Officer or by the Historic Preservation Board. To access a copy of the COA application click here.
