City to Resume Recycling Operations

TEMPLE, TX (May 8, 2020) – The City of Temple will resume regular recycling operations on May 18 with the addition of new health and safety procedures.

On March 19, the City temporarily halted operations at its Recycling Transfer Facility to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As a result, materials collected from residential curbside pickup were diverted to the landfill.

There is no change to residential pickup schedules. Residents are reminded to only place recyclable materials in their green recycling cart. A full list of recyclable materials can be found here: https://bit.ly/3dq1PAj

"The City’s curbside recycling program is a service we are proud to provide for residents," Public Works Director Don Bond said. "We are happy we were able to find a way to resume this service while still maintaining proper safety precautions."

Employees will be provided with respirators, gloves and will be trained on proper social distancing. Additional ventilation and a hand-washing sink will be installed at the facility.

Recycle Drop Off Center #1 at 3015 Bullseye Lane will also reopen. Recycle Drop Off Center #2, 602 Jack Baskin Drive, has remained open for residents to drop off materials at their convenience.
