ATF Offering Reward for Information on Firearm Theft

TEMPLE, TX (May 7, 2020) –The Temple Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are searching for information regarding the April 5 burglary of Hawkeye Shooting Academy, 119 N. 19th Street.

Temple Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has named 18-year-old Esteban Allan Aguilar as a suspect. Aguilar is approximately 5’9", 170 lbs., and has several tattoos on his face.

ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and/or arrest of those responsible.

On April 5 between 11 p.m., and 1 a.m., at least three suspects forced entry into Hawkeye Shooting Academy. Once inside, the suspects stole 30 firearms from the display racks. The suspects are described as slim males, approximately 18 years old.

“Recovering these firearms quickly before additional crimes are committed remains a top priority for ATF,” said Fred Milanowski, ATF Houston Field Division Special Agent in Charge.

The reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between ATF and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally-licensed firearms retailers. ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
