$33 Million Parks Bond Election Called for May 2, 2020
On February 13, 2020, the City of Temple’s City Council members approved a resolution calling for residents to vote on a $33 million parks bond package during the May 2, 2020 general election.
Based on new residential water account data, the City of Temple has added an average of 70 new households each month over the past five years. Funding from the parks bond will enable the City to create new parks for access to green spaces, while also providing upgrades to existing parks.
The parks bond is anticipated to include the following*:
• Approximately 100 acres of new park space,
• Approximately 9 miles of new trails,
• Improvements to approximately 20 existing parks that include expanding and updating playgrounds, restrooms, pavilions, basketball and tennis courts and dog parks.
